Can I sue in civil court a cheating husband?
ivygal36 asked:
Before shocking my attorney with this question, I thought I’d ask here. Can I sue in civil court my cheating husband and/or the ho he is with? He took me for a ton of money while we were “working on the marriage” while the whole time, unbeknownst to me, he was still with her.

Maybe you can. But I think you should focus more on getting over him and moving on. Start a new love affair and take your mind off him. x
I think you can sue for just about anything….doesn’t mean you will win….and adultry while morally wrong is not against the law.
Tsk, tsk.
Live and learn I say.
I saw an episode on Dr. Phil last season where a wife sued the mistress and won $50,000 for ruining her marriage.
Depends on your state law. In California, there are statutes known as “anti heart-balm” statutes which prohibit these types of actions. I would find a good divorce attorney. Depending on your state, there are other remedies against your husband.
No you cannot. What you can do, is sue in divorce court and make sure you provide PROOF he “took” you – that will be hard to prove, unless you made him sign an agreement note to pay you back AND you can prove that the money was yours before you married him.
I am not a lawyer but if you think there is cause for the action, ask your attorney.
No, the only money you will get out of him is in your divorce settlement. There is not a judge around that is going to hear your case.
Yes you can in certain states, it’s called “alienation of affection” and it’s suing the mistress. Check out the following website for states that still do, and check with your lawyer.
